A Story of Point Clouds and Perception
Foreword on the 3D conference
This 9th International Workshop 3D-ARCH focused on “3D Virtual Reconstruction and Visualization of Complex Architectures”. It started in 2005 in Venice and move throughout the years to Zurich (2007), Trento (2009, 2011, 2013), Avila (2015), Napflio (2017) and Bergamo (2019), organized as an ISPRS and CIPA event.
The workshop’s main focus is to discuss steps and processes for smart 3D reconstruction, modeling, accessing, and understanding digital environments from multiple data sources. This times, organizers managed to get – Post-COVID – some 125 registrations and lots of interesting oral & poster presentations.

The Keynote on point cloud processing
For now, I generated a pdf from the talk that you can find here. A quick warning: it is very raw, and it may be hard to catch without the storytelling. I will update the post as soon as the video recording is ready. On top of that, I am working on a unique position paper that should be released in the coming weeks to describe better the ideas and processes given.
